| To start with, Bakyas is not your hi-fi-celebrate-birthdays-anniversaries-place. And not does it claim to be. And right there, is why we make it a point to visit the place at least once a week. Not pretentious, not flashy, this place knows it advantage is in selling the right food at the right time and at the right place.
Situated conveniently on the corner of mambalam railway station and mettupalayam market, this is one spot that is hard to miss on your way to or from work or college if your commute is on that route. And the appetizing smells literally draw you to this place like the cartoon cat that smells food and gets drawn to the food automatically. The ambience by itself is nothing to speak of, though that doesn?t quite stop one from continuing to visit the place. And frankly enough, that actually adds to the point of a fast food and a relax atmosphere; in the sense, it would be extremely rare for someone to worry about whether they?re talking too loudly there, you automatically feel at home.
To place a particular cuisine for this place is a little bit of a challenge here. There is definitely south Indian, definitely north Indian and definitely Chinese food. All at very reasonable rates, definitely appealing to the youth who love snacking. Fried rice and Manchurian all at Rs40/-, making a complete meal in less than a 100 bucks. South Indian food at much lower rates, ranging from Rs.15-35, while rotis and naans with sidesdishes come to around Rs. 25 or 35, depending on the choice of order. The menu includes appetizers, desserts, fresh juices, soft drinks and lots more too! Needless to say, all this has worked in favour of Bakyas and you see no restriction whatsoever in the type of customers it draws.
As you enter, you are see big green board splashing different dishes at you, a side dedicated to juices and other drinks and the line for ordering your food.
The best part about this place is the quality of food, and make no mistake about that. Designed especially for the Indian tongue with spices, and wide variety to choose from, it is definitely a meal you will eat will relish. This certainly overcomes things like the lack of an air conditioner, or the fact that your food won?t get served to you all the time.
Another good thing about this place it that it has another branch in West Mambalam, no doubted started due the demand. The food is just as good, though it is certainly not as big as its main branch. They have a separate division for South Indian food and other food, making ordering and delivering your food a little easier.
On the whole, this is one place you should definitely try. And after that, it moves on to become one place you take your friends to, and once place where you go to each as much as you can!.
