INOX Multiplex

"Movie night is back!" 10 Nov 2008
This place is so far removed from the single screen thousand-seater cinema halls of yester years its almost hard to believe. Gone are the rickety wooden folding chairs with hard foam. In its place comfy plush seats and the floors are actually clean and not sticky. The refreshment stand is almost glitzy and the restrooms clean! But on to the the main part- the AV. Nothing to complain about here either. Good quality all the way although like in most theaters in India, I do believe the volume is cranked up a bit to high. What's wrong with this place- its very expensive. But I guess you need to charge for all those amenities and up keep. I know that INOX is just on among the many cool theatre multiplexes but it deserves kudos.

Shree Mithai

"Sweet Heaven" 17 Mar 2009
Shree Mithai has probably been around for as long as I can remember. I used to live very close to the outlet and we were there to try something new almost every week. This was back when its store front was a much more humble place. Didn't matter though their sweets were absolutely great and fresh. Now I live many miles away but always get my Shree fix. Either have my family bring me some when they visit or make sure there some of my Shree favorites waiting for me when I visit. Their store has so many more varieties now, its almost confusing deciding what to get. I stick to the basics, you can never go wrong, but have never really heard anyone complain of having something not so sweet! A big thumbs up for this place!

Durbar

"Music , food or both - you might have to choose!" 17 Mar 2009
Not sure why we decided to go to Durbar, either it was for its food or for the music, either way it was hard to appreciate either. We were seated close to the singers/musicians as requested by the oldest man in our group. (This was before the music actually started) While the musicians set up we ordered the usual suspects, Dal Makhani, Butter Chicken, Nan, Rotis, Kababs and Biryani. Once our ordering and reordering was completed we eased ourselves into our chairs and began chatting. Everything seemed just right until the singing commenced. Now by all standards the singers were pretty good probably even great, but it was so loud they really left you with no option but to stay quiet and listen to them. All through dinner we sat quietly, yelled for some dishes to be passed over or spoke into the ears of the person sitting beside us. The food was decent. No major points for it. Nothing was bad either, but there just wasn't any standouts. My recommendation order the basics like we did and if you are looking to have an evening of conversation and music sit as far away from the performance area as possible. Enjoy!

Giancarlo's Place

"Good food but a tad expensive" 29 Mar 2009
We strayed into this place determined to check it out and fill our stomachs. But once seated and having a chance to take in the place and the menu, we quickly realized this was no ordinary restaurant. The place is chic and the prices are high. We knew it would strain our budget but the place is so inviting we just had to stay. We ordered minimally but everything was a winner. We had the risotto, the San Danielle (?) pizza and a couple glasses of wine. The service was courteous and the food was good. I would definitely go back but it would need to be a special occasion. Can be romantic too, so consider taking you date or significant other for dinner.

Mint Masala

"Maybe, Maybe not?" 31 Mar 2009
Maybe I am not the best person to review this place, being a whole hearted non-vegetarian. Mostly vegetarian food bores me but thought I would give this a try. The verdict, not bad! Service was good and then not so great. Lots of ups and downs. The rotis were pretty good, my favorite the Romali roti was up to par. I stuck to the Indian menu, but you could stray into Chinese and Continental territory too. The menu is large maybe be too large, makes it kind of confusing. So considering there are so many options, I would say try the place because there has to be something you like in there.
