Amethyst

"Unique to Chennai!" 19 Jun 2008
Set in a large colonial style bungalow and extending into its green gardens, this place is a great place to lounge on a sunny afternoon. It has a cool boutique too, expensive but a lot of unique stuff. The food was just OK. Everything we ordered there failed to impress, but the ambiance is so nice we will definitely go back. Next time maybe sit outdoors. All the nice tables had reserved signs on them, made me wonder if they were just holding them for their favoured customers.

Pearl's Cafe

"A Pearl by the Palace!" 11 Jul 2008
My wife and I spent a week at the Leela Palace but spent almost every evening at Pearl's Cafe. Located right beside the Leela Beach, this place has great service and great food. By the 4th day everyone was our friend. Weekend nights are fun, they have a band playing, a small makeshift dance floor, fireworks and a bonfire. It can be quite romantic! The place is clean and neat compared to a lot of the shacks of the same size and kind in North Goa. We stuck to eating all their Goan foods and were never disappointed. Our waiter would bring out the fresh sea food for us to choose from and then cook them to order. If I go back to Goa, I am definitely going back here!

The Spa @ Leela Kempinski Goa

"Treated like a King at the Palace!" 11 Jul 2008
So while I stayed at the Leela Palace I just had to try out their Spa. The obvious choice was the heavily plugged Shirodhara treatment. It looked pretty good too. The place is very nice, quiet and clean. It has a small gym attached too. They were booked solid most of the day and we had to find some odd appointment time to fit into their schedule. A good sign I hoped. The Ayurvedic massage and Shirodhara treatment were really good and very relaxing. Apart from the awkwardness of wearing a thin white g string the experience was really good. I did not try any of their other treatments but if I was to stay at the Leela again I would try something else, although if you are willing to spend the money I hear there are some nicer places outside of the Leela.

The Big Chill Cafe

"A big thrill!" 16 Jul 2008
My brother in law took me to this place one very warm summer afternoon in Delhi. He had managed to hype the place up so much so that I was sure it was doomed for disappointment. But not so, everything we ordered was great and interesting. The milkshakes, juices, Pasta and sandwiches all tasted fresh and unique. The service was pretty good too, friendly waiters and quick service. The restaurant has two levels, the upper level seems to be where all the fun is. The lower level was quieter for some reason. Would love to go back, the next time I am in Delhi.

The Wharf

"Great service, food and views!" 18 Apr 2009
"The Wharf" is a great place to dine at while staying at the GRT. Located right by the sea, almost every table has a great view. Make a reservation for dinner on weekends to make sure you get an outdoor table, although the ones under the canopy are quite nice too. Our table service came with a complimentary bottle of water and a refreshing welcome drink. The service was quick, efficient and very polite. Our waiter came by with a cow bell sort of menu that had the specials written on each of the 4 sides. He described each dish very well and answered any questions we had. They have pretty good selection of liquor and wines including some of my favorite single malts. We ordered the Maryland crab soup, the special Murgh Chatpata and a sheek kabab. All of them were pretty good especially the Chatpata. We did not need to order any sides, the meal came with two rotis for each of us, rice and two bows of black and yellow dal. Pretty neat, I say! I cannot complain about the quantities too, they were good sized and almost too much for us. All through the meal the server checked on us, refreshed our drinks and made us feel quite special. During our dinner we also noticed that the kids were kept entertained by the staff and seemed to be having a pretty good time. As you can tell I am quite impressed by the place, definitely recommend it.
