The ambience here isn't exactly what I thought it would be. The waiters weren't wearing the traditional 'veshtis' but some other form of lungi which is not 'South Indian'. The food here though is incredible. Expensive yes but incredible. I have visited this restaurant earlier and used to be disappointed by the pricing. Why do I pay Rs.1000 or more for a dish which I can get for 1/5th the cost and even at a better taste outside? Nonetheless, there is perhaps no other restaurant in Mumbai that serves the kind of delicacies that Dakshin offers. On the request of the chef that the menu has changed for better now, decided to give it a try. Ordered for a creamy and gentle Meen Moilee and a really spicy Endu Mirpa Eguru.The Meen Moilee was delicious and full of coconut flavours. Also tried the Khaima Choru which is as close or even better than the original dish! Khaima Choru has minced meat, egg, chilly and capsicum all cooked together.
The food is the best you can get but then again the prices are a big question mark. One can easily spend close to Rs.4000 for a meal for two here!
