Cafe St Francis Xavier, as the name suggestions, is named after the patron saint of Goa. The restaurant is very famous in Goa and every Goan will tell you stories about the times they have spent here. Truly, it is an institution and nothing, not even the hip shacks on the beaches compare to this!
The service is extremely delightful. The staff is warm and friendly to Indians and foreigners. The interiors are elegant and relaxing and soothing lending a helping hand to the famed Goan hospitality.
They have a pretty large menu. The dishes here are cooked in authentic Goan style - even Goans agree with this fact! Sea food is their specialty though they make a mean Pork Chilly Fry, with the spicy pork tempered with onions, tomatoes and green chillies. Also like the Prawn Risoi, Goan-style dumplings with prawn filling, Beef and Fish Patties, croquettes, which are round, cylindrical meat balls among others. Another cool thing about the restaurant is their assorted snacks platter for those who do not eat a lot. They can eat what they like and return the rest. How cool is that! Roast Chicken with French Fries is an excellent item on their European menu. They also stock a variety of breads, cakes and other baked items which generally disappear in the morning itself. Their bakery is of good quality this side of Calangute!
