Shiro is located in the UB city complex on one level above the Piazza. While the elevator ride up to it might be non impressive, the actual restaurant is visually stunning. The interiors rival some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas and New York. I say Las Vegas, as there is something dramatic about the the restaurant that matches many of the popular ones out there.
Imposing statues and busts, greenery, high ceilings, a wine cellar, multiple levels are all apart of the scenery.
Walk out the double doors to their open bar and restaurant extension. Once again everything is aesthetic and impressive. We were there in the afternoon and can only imagine how pretty the place must look all lit up.
Now to the food. Sushi in India has always had a big question mark for me, but Shiro has changed that. Granted the selections were minimal or rather limited but every piece of sushi, sashimi and nigiri was excellent and fresh. Especially good was the norwegian salmon sashimi.
We ordered the unlimite Sushi/Maki and Dim Sum plates along with a Sashimi platter.
The Dim sums were good but it was the Sushi that stole the show.
Service was good but could have been better. There was no soy sauce on the table and you had to request some everytime your shallow bowl emptied. And it was usally a wait to get a tad more of that sauce.
The place is expensive but for Sushi and that too good sushi you should expect to pay more. But we did come out feeling like it was a resonable meal considering the cuisine.
Definitely recommend this place and would love to come back one evening to lounge in the outside area, eat sushi and listen to music.
